Today I’d like to discuss two ingredients; Polyhydroxic acids (PHA’s) and Birch sap.
For a few years now, both PHA’s and birch sap have become staples in K beauty and have recently made more appearances in Western beauty.
PHA’s have a larger molecular size meaning they penetrate less deeply which can potentially be better for those with sensitive skin and can reduce the side effects of redness and irritation. PHA’s serve as a mild chemical exfoliant, removing the top layers of skin while maintaining the skin’s moisture barrier.
While we can all appreciate the hydrating properties of water, swapping in birch sap extract as the main ingredient in skincare provides much more as birch sap, extracted from the white/black birch tree in the same manner as maple syrup from the maple tree, is full of minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, sugars, and Niacinamide which nourishes and brightens your skin, fortifies the skin's barrier function, and protects against environmental stressors (air pollution, dust, UV radiation).
If you have been wondering which product to buy from TIMY’s newest launch, I’d recommend the toner given its multi-purpose abilities outside of hydration, and price point.
